Job Title: OYSTER FARM BOAT CREW

Job Description:
The Oyster Farmer job is an entry level position for farming oysters. Employees should be comfortable working as a part of a team both inside and on the water in all weather conditions. This position exposes employees to an array of duties on the farm, from harvesting, to seed handling, as well as raising and sinking gear. Most of the jobs on the farm are physically demanding; there should be no aversion to manual labor.
Specific responsibilities:
- Accurately measure and fill seed into our harvest bags and deploy them at our leases.
- Harvest market sized oysters and restock inventory using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor oyster growth and health
- Work in both the farm and boat settings across multiple locations
- Raise and sink gear in accordance with our overwintering plan.
- Aid in repairing gear as needed both on land and on water.
- Take direction from supervisors and give a solid effort as member of our team.
- Maintain a clean/organized locker space.
- Collaborate with other farm workers to accomplish tasks
- Comply with all Raspberry Point Oysters standards and policies.
- Work to continuously improve operations with respect to quality, safety, and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Physical ability to work in outdoor environments and lift heavy objects of up to 50lbs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with a team
- Willingness to work and adapt to changing weather conditions, including inclement weather
- Manual dexterity

- Positive attitude
Experience:
This position offers the opportunity to learn and practice skills that are required for our aquaculture farm’s success. Employees are not expected to come into the job with any previous aquaculture experience but are expected to learn those skills effectively and in a timely manner. Previous experience with manual labor is preferred. We can train the right person who has an interest in the work we’re doing, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. This is a great opportunity to learn more about large-scale oyster farming.
