About The Nash
The Nash Restaurant & Off Cut Bar is one of Calgary's most enduring and respected independent dining destinations. Housed in Inglewood's historic National Hotel, The Nash is a chef-driven, live fire kitchen led by Chef and Proprietor Michael Noble. Our open-hearth cooking, deep commitment to Alberta ingredients, and the warmly spirited Off Cut Bar together create a dining experience that is both distinctly local and genuinely elevated.
Events are not a side of what we do at The Nash. They are central to it. From landmark weddings and corporate celebrations to full restaurant buyouts and off-site catering at venues across the city, our events program reflects everything we believe about hospitality. We take that seriously, and we are looking for someone who does too.
The Opportunity
Our events program has a strong foundation, an established client base, loyal relationships built over many years, and a reputation in this city that people trust for their most important occasions. We are looking for a leader who is ready to take full ownership of that program and carry it forward with the same care and standard that has always defined it.
This is an end-to-end events leadership role. You will sell, plan, and execute the full range of events across The Nash, the Off Cut Bar, and The Loft at Calgary Farmers Market West, our dedicated catering facility, as well as off-site catering at external venues throughout Calgary. You are the point person from the first inquiry through to the last guest departing. You will work closely with our Restaurant Manager and Chef to ensure every event is staffed, resourced, and executed to the standard The Nash is known for.
This role comes with real autonomy and genuine operational support. If you are someone who thrives when given ownership of something meaningful and who understands that events done well require equal parts relationship, logistics, and presence on the floor, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Own
- The full events sales process from first inquiry through to signed contract, across all event types and venues including full and partial restaurant buyouts, weddings, corporate functions, holiday events, and off-site catering.
- Every detail of the planning process, including menus, timelines, floor plans, rental coordination, staffing requirements, client communications, and securing appropriate deposits as per The Nash Event Terms & Conditions.
- On-site execution and leadership at events, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and guests throughout.
- Coordination of senior leadership and kitchen presence at events in close collaboration with the Restaurant Manager and Chef.
- Off-site catering events at external venues across Calgary, as well as The Loft at Calgary Farmers Market West.
- Accurate and organized records for all bookings, contracts, and event documentation.
- The ongoing growth and development of The Nash events program, always looking for ways to improve the guest experience and strengthen the business.
Who You Are
- You have a minimum of three to five years of experience in event coordination or management in a hospitality or food and beverage environment, with a proven track record of selling events and building lasting client relationships.
- You are as comfortable in a planning meeting as you are on a busy event floor, and you understand that both matter equally.
- You are deeply organized, calm under pressure, and capable of managing multiple events at different stages of planning simultaneously.
- You understand what it means to work in a chef-driven restaurant and you champion the culinary vision rather than work around it.
- You bring the professionalism and warmth to represent The Nash at the highest level in every client interaction, whether that is a first inquiry email or the final moments of a 200-person wedding.
- You are rooted here. You know Calgary, you understand Alberta hospitality, and you are building your career in this city.
- You approach the technology available to you with curiosity and confidence. Whether you are already fluent in event management and reservations platforms such as Tripleseat and OpenTable, or you are someone who digs in and masters new tools quickly, you understand that using these platforms to their full potential is part of doing this job well.
What We Offer
- Compensation for this role is structured across three components: base salary, commission on net event and catering sales, and gratuity participation in The Nash Event and Catering House Tip Pool. Together these exceed industry standards and represent a genuinely lucrative package for the right individual. The full compensation details will be shared with shortlisted candidates through the interview process
- Group benefits through Green Shield following three months of continuous employment.
- A genuinely supportive ownership structure with real operational backing and a proprietor who invests in his people.
- A program with strong existing relationships and a loyal client base to build from, not a blank page.
- The opportunity to put your mark on one of Calgary's most respected events programs at a meaningful moment in the restaurant's story.
