Founded in Ottawa in 1971, Bio-Test has been providing best-in-class specimen collection and diagnostic services to Eastern Ontarians and is fully licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to perform tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, special chemistry and serology. Bio-Test is ISO 15189 Plus™ accredited through Accreditation Canada (AC) and offers customized occupational health programs, including workforce specimen collection, radiology, and ultrasound services, as well as ECGs.
About the role:
The Bookkeeper, under the direction of the Accountant, is primarily responsible for the billing and accounts receivable function as well as other duties in the areas of accounts payable and payroll. They will be required to prepare, submit, review, revise and analyze OHIP billings.
What you will be doing to make an impact:
Billing & accounts receivables
- Review and analyze OHIP transfer payment agreement cap position
- Reconcile approvals against billing submissions
Accounts payable
- Post vendors bills to the accounting system
- Ensure bills are matched against purchasing and receiving documents and are approved prior to payment
- Ensure vendor expense amounts are posted to the correct time period
- Transition all vendor payments to electronic payments
Reporting and account reconciliation
- Ensure all accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis (including prepaids, inventory, fixed assets and accrued liabilities)
- Liaise with parent entity to prepare and provide financial statements along with other various ad hoc reports
- Ensure government remittances/installments are reconciled and up to date
Process improvement
- Continuously seek to streamline and optimize accounting processes
- Prioritize the transition from paper to electronic record keeping
Qualifications:
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online, ADP, and Dynamics 365
- Experience working with various Office365 suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience processing payroll
- Experience in Financial reporting
- 2+ years of full cycle accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
