Chai Spice Inc. is a Calgary-based tea company. Our masala chai blends are carried at Community Natural Foods and Sobeys, sold through our online store, and served fresh at markets, community events, and in-store sampling demos across the city.
We are hiring an Event and In-Store Demo Representative to run our sampling booth at weekend markets and grocery-store demos. You will work independently on site, prepare and serve chai samples, talk to shoppers about the product, and process purchases at the booth.
What you will do:
- Transport booth equipment and product to and from event and store locations
- Set up and tear down the demo station, including table, signage, and sampling equipment
- Prepare and serve hot chai samples following Alberta food-safety practices
- Keep the sampling station clean, stocked, and food-safe throughout the shift
- Answer shopper questions about our blends, ingredients, and brewing methods
- Process purchases using Square and Shopify point-of-sale
- Record sample counts, units sold, and shopper feedback after each shift
- Complete occasional local product deliveries or pickups within Calgary
Schedule:
- Most Saturdays and Sundays, typically 4 to 8 hour shifts
- Some weekday in-store demos, usually late afternoon or evening
- Approximately 12 to 24 hours per week depending on the event calendar
Requirements:
- Based in Calgary
- Valid Alberta driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle, with mileage reimbursed at company rate
- Comfortable preparing and serving food samples to the public
- Able to lift up to 15 kg and stand for extended periods
- Able to work independently on site without direct supervision
- Available most weekends
Nice to have:
- Alberta Food Handler Certificate, or willingness to obtain one at our cost
- Previous experience in retail, sampling, demos, hospitality, or customer service
- Interest in tea, food, or South Asian cuisine
Compensation and benefits:
- 20.00 to 22.00 CAD per hour depending on experience
- Monthly performance bonus based on demo-day sales results
