Facilities Maintenance Operations, BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre, $32.96 per hour
What you’ll do
Liaise with the Steam and Mechanical Systems Supervisor in conjunction with the Head Refrigeration Air Conditioning Mechanic, to receive direction on the maintenance tasks associated with the following building distribution systems; mechanical, pneumatic, steam, condensate, sterilization, hot water heating, heating ventilation and air conditioning, medical air/vacuum, and mechanical power generation systems.
Determine necessary materials, tools and equipment required to perform each task. Refer to blueprints and shop drawings to minimize operating impacts in patient care areas prior to any work start. Consult with end users when requiring access to work in any patient care areas. Ensure all work assignments are executed in conformance with current regulatory codes, WorksafeBC regulations and established Hospital standards while maintaining a clean work space; provide feedback and recommendations to the Steam and Mechanical Supervisor on any system modifications or enhancements.
Perform preventive maintenance, demand maintenance and alteration work on all mechanical components associated with the following building distribution systems; mechanical, pneumatic, steam, condensate, sterilization, hot water heating, heating ventilation and air conditioning, medical air/vacuum, and mechanical power generation systems which may include but not be limited to cleaning, lubricating and/or repacking bearings, valves or other moving components, changing oil, changing/replacing drive couplings, sheaves, drive belts, seals, bearings and shafts.
Install equipment and machinery such as but not limited to pumps, blowers, fans, steam turbines, motors, gear boxes and drive couplings using methods such as constructing/fabricating equipment
foundation, aligning and leveling machinery using computerized alignment tools, dial indicators, levels, shims and fastening the machinery into place.
What you bring
Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of B.C.
Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
