We are looking for an experience and capable Truck and Transport Mechanic to join our dedicated team in the fleet and maintenance shop and take accountability for all aspects of inspecting diagnosing, servicing and repairing our fleet of equipment.
What You’ll Do:
- Participates in the repair and maintenance of Company fleet equipment.
- Ensures internal maintenance documentation is fully and accurately completed within the prescribed timelines.
- Assesses equipment and makes recommendations to Shop Foreman and/or Fleet Manager regarding repair advice when required.
- Aids in identifying possible warranty repair issues.
- Assists Shop Foreman with repair estimates, equipment specs and assessment as needed.
- Qualified technicians will be accountable for the instruction, guidance and safety of all apprentices.
- Participates in all shop parts and supplies inventory count as required.
- Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment & ensures safe work practices are always followed.
- Participates in special projects assigned by Shop Foreman and/or Fleet Manager.
Who You Are:
- Holds a qualified Red Seal Journeyperson Certification in Truck and Transport Mechanic with four (4) years’ repair and maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to travel; must own reliable transportation and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License. Valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement an asset.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of major truck, trailer and material components such as diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
- Proficient with diagnostic software and repair manuals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods.
- Physical ability required to perform all essential tasks of a Truck and Transport Mechanic.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize self to achieve goals, prioritize tasks, and allocate time and resources accordingly to ensure completion within set timelines.
- Looks for ways to improve processes and procedures; continuous improvement.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and instructions.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information and data to resolve problems related to area of expertise.
- Team player who collaborates with others to achieve goals, objectives, and deliverables; demonstrates ability to engage, motivate, develop and mentor staff
- Can maintain stable performance under pressure and/or adversity
- Customer focused individual who takes responsibility for internal and external customer satisfaction with a collaborative, problem-solving approach
