Job Description
We are looking for a Large Format Print Operator to join our Production department. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and efficiency of our large format printers, and will be able to meet tight deadlines and ensure accurate colour replication and correct print placement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for setting up machine to start a production cycle (daily maintenance procedures, optimize workflow)
- Choosing correct materials for job and correct printing procedures (3M Vinyl, Avery Vinyl, etc.)
- Inspect product as it is printed to be sure that the result is accurate
- Clock in and out of jobs to record production times and properly issue materials
- Monitor press and material for issues (i.e. material flaws, end of roll before job is done, etc.)
- Operate printing equipment, including Durst Rho, Mimaki JV5, HP Latex 3000, Inca Onset
- Utilize RIP software, including ColorGate, Onyx Thrive, Caldera
- Ensure layout and imposition of files are correct
- Perform other duties as assigned and related to position
Skills, Experience, and Requirements
- Secondary/High School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Understand how production procedures are followed
- Understanding of colour printing systems
- Understanding of unit measurement conversion (feet into inches, yards into feet, etc.)
- Understanding of maintenance and start-up procedures for all machines
- Willingness to follow safety procedures, and an understanding of why this is important
- Attention to detail and ability to resolve or work around small, semi-complex problems
- Troubleshooting experience and strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift materials more than 60lbs
- Must be a team player
- Experience performing quality checks on own work
- Must work well under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
