Contributing to people, culture and innovation the Communications Assistant is responsible to assist with the delivery of effective, proactive communications support across the organization. This role will receive mentorship from the Communications team to provide strategic planning and implementation for all communication projects and initiatives.
Your Primary Responsibilities
Identify issues, provide research and strategies of solutions consistent with organizational objectives
Coordinate and support digital and social media strategies
Assist in the design and production of documents, presentations, videos, corporate materials, website content, the annual report and the Alberta RN Magazine, including writing and editing content
Collaborate with vendor partners for a variety of communication services, including webinars and the production of the Alberta RN Magazine
Prepare key messages or write speaking notes and greetings for Provincial Council and/or Executive Team
Draft media advisories/releases and coordinate interviews with authorized spokespeople
Act as a resource to employees for visual identity as well as clear and concise writing
Provide website and social media advice to stakeholders on how to optimize opportunities for online communication
Manage social media including strategy, content development as well as track daily media coverage
Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing
1 - 2 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred with previous experience in a regulatory working environment an asset
Professional designation in communications or membership in International Associations of Business Communicators or Canadian Public Relations Society an asset
Interpersonal skills that build confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity
In-depth knowledge of communications planning, media relations, issues management and project management
Highly developed writing skills and creativity with the ability to identify strategically relevant stories using different media to targeted audiences and stakeholders
Knowledge of best practices for social media, website, print production, marketing, branding and design
Knowledge of Canadian Press Guidelines
Excellent organizational and time management skills
