Journeyman Gas Fitter

AFIMAC Canada is actively hiring certified Class 1 Journeyman Gas Fitter for upcoming assignments throughout Ontario.

This position will require you to work 12 hour shifts 7 days per week when assigned to a project. You may also be required to travel away from your home and reside in a hotel until the assignment is complete.

You will earn:

  • $40 per hour before overtime
  • $60 per hour during overtime (after 44 hours a week)
  • $30 per day non-taxed meal allowance
  • Paid Travel (up to 4 hours)
  • Hotel Accommodations Provided (when required)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, repair and maintain gas lines and gas equipment such as meters, regulators and heating units in industrial establishments.
  • Testing and replacing defective equipment
  • Must have knowledge of temporary heaters; direct and indirect fired, hydronic, electrical etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair a variety of heating equipment in the shop or field
  • Strong knowledge of the safety regulations, codes and practices regarding LP/NG use, equipment servicing, permitting and installation at construction sites
  • The ability to read/understand building and mechanical plans, job specifications and other technical documents is an asset
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with a wide variety of customers and internal resources

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Education
  • At least five years experience as a Certified Pipe Fitter in a manufacturing environment
  • Physically fit
  • Experience with a Heat Treat operation
  • Capable of troubleshooting and solving problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to read and write
  • Able to work as a team with other trades
  • Able to read schematics
  • Able to work alone with little supervision and make decision and repairs in a timely manner
  • Maintain good housekeeping and be familiar with and follow all safe operating procedures
  • Work rotating shifts and some overtime as required
  • Certified journeyman Gas Fitter, Must hold an Ontario department of Labour Certificate gas Fitter Class 1 licence.
