Job Summary:
The Site Superintendent plays a crucial role in managing and supervising civil watermain, sewer and road reconstruction projects within the GTA area. Working closely with principals, project managers, contractors, and a skilled workforce, the Site Superintendent ensures that projects progress smoothly, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Management:
- Coordinate resources, equipment, materials, and labour to ensure efficient project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify, and address any deviations from plans, and implement corrective actions.
- Proactively communicate project updates and ensure effective information flow with stakeholders.
- Analyze drawings to identify conflicts and take a proactive approach to ensure work can be completed as well as able to adapt to changing circumstances in the field and identify changes to contract scope.
2. Site Supervision and Quality Control:
- Oversee and supervise all construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to maintain a continuous production to achieve timely completion.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes, and regulations.
3. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident reporting as required.
- Implement and monitor safety protocols and ensure all personnel adhere to health and safety guidelines.
- Identify and promptly address any safety concerns or hazards to prevent accidents or incidents.
4. Team Management and Leadership:
- Supervise, motivate, and provide guidance to project site staff, including foremen, workers, and subcontractors.
- Promote a positive work environment, foster teamwork, and maintain effective communication among team members.
5. Project Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, safety documentation and relevant records.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely submission of project-related documentation to clients and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in site supervision or construction management roles, preferably in watermain and sewer construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of civil construction processes, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to the construction industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and locates.
- Valid G driver's license minimum and ability to travel to various job sites within the GTA area.
