ABOUT THE POSITION
Alchemy is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to help us offer a high touch experience to our bookkeeping and CFO clients. You will also help mentor other bookkeepers, ensuring quality and consistency, and helping elevate standards of service across the board.
This is a remote position, however you must legally be able to work in Canada as you will be hired as an Employee. You must have good internet access at all times, and be a good communicator and committed to showing up to your work consistently. You would be reporting to the Business Owner and the Operations and HR Manager.
Job Type: Remote, Part-time to start (up to 20 hours per week)
Rate: Starting at $30/hour (depending on skills, experience, and overall fit)
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Client Account Management:
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and the entire month-end close process
- Create accurate, detailed financial records by utilizing QuickBooks Online and Dext
- Prepare financial reports, identify inconsistencies, and support accountants with analysis
- Manage sales tax filings and payroll across multiple provinces (depending on location of the client, and their engagement)
- Maintain timely, professional communication with clients via email, Zoom, Loom, or phone
- Hold regular check-ins with clients (typically once per month, depending on engagement)
- Answer all questions about the finances of the client’s business
- Know our services inside and out and answer any question about what’s included, the outcomes, the bonuses, the support that’s included, etc.
- Become fluent in our systems and tools to navigate and support clients efficiently
Quality Review
- Review bookkeeping work completed by other team members for accuracy and completeness
- Uphold quality assurance standards and support internal file review processes
- Lead by example and serve as a reference person for questions from other bookkeepers
Core Requirements
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Have a reliable personal device (laptop or desktop) for remote work, a strong and stable internet connection, and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace at home
- Minimum five (5) years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience with client-facing responsibilities (leading virtual meetings and presenting financial data to clients)
- Bookkeeping certification or Associate’s Degree in Accounting preferred
- Proven experience managing and reviewing bookkeeping work of others preferred
- Advanced proficiency in QBO, Excel/Google Spreadsheet, and cloud-based systems
- Strong understanding of financial reports, accrual-based accounting, and payroll
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple clients and projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with digital businesses and online platforms, especially those that are used for cloud-based bookkeeping
