Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality support to individuals living in the community. Qualifications
- Diploma in Community Social Service, Health Care Support Worker Certificate, Certificate in Community Mental Health, Human Service Worker Certificate, Addictions Worker Certificate, or related Education and Experience in supporting individuals with Complex Mental Illness, including Concurrent Disorders
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training / MANDT System Training
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance Check with Vulnerable Sector Request - Medical Clearance
- Class 5 Driver’s License; access to own vehicle
- Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
As a Community Support Worker, you are expected to:
- Treat clients with respect.
- Convey empathy and provide emotional support to clients.
- Ensure safety of each client.
- Work with the client and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of Person-Centred -Plans / Safety Plans / Behavior Management Plan.
- Support clients in their daily basic needs for food, clothing, shelter and an optimum living condition
- Assist clients in meeting their goals Promote client’s independence. Support clients in learning important life skills necessary for successful community living.
- Assist clients in participating in community activities/programs.
- Support clients in fulfilling their school / job obligations.
- Accompany clients to their appointments.
- Confidently perform delegable tasks
- Report to the supervisor
