Job Overview
Boreal Housing Foundation is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Housing & Lodge Manager, the Maintenance Aide is responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, grounds maintenance, and ensuring our facilities remain safe, comfortable, and welcoming for residents.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining facilities, and is committed to providing excellent service to seniors and tenants.
Duties
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Complete inspections and maintenance tasks on scheduled intervals.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Conduct basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and repair work.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records, logs, and inspection reports.
- Complete move-in and move-out inspections with tenants.
- Monitor facility temperatures, air quality, and equipment performance.
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers as required.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including snow removal, groundskeeping, and debris removal.
- Ensure sidewalks, ramps, decks, lighting, handrails, benches, and other outdoor amenities remain safe and in good repair.
- Assist with other facility and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- General maintenance experience in building, facility, or property maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
- Trade certification(s).
- First Aid Certification.
- Experience working with seniors or within a supportive living environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
