Leavens Auto Group is seeking a hands-on, experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR and recruitment across our dealership group.
This is the organization’s sole in-house HR role, a hands-on leadership position with broad responsibility for HR and recruitment across the group. The successful candidate will work directly with executive leadership, General Managers, department leaders, employees, and candidates to provide practical HR guidance, lead full-cycle recruitment, maintain sound employment practices, and improve people processes.
Leavens Auto Group operates five dealership locations in London and one location in the Windsor/Tecumseh area. Serve as the primary HR advisor to executives, General Managers, department managers, and employees.
Provide practical guidance on employee relations, performance management, attendance, conduct, accommodations, leaves, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns.
Prepare employment offers, agreements, amendments, compensation-change letters, probation documentation, performance documentation, and other HR correspondence.
Lead full-cycle recruitment for approved vacancies, including job intake, postings, sourcing, screening, candidate communication, interview coordination, reference checks, offers, onboarding, and early-tenure follow-up.
Partner with hiring managers to improve hiring quality, interview consistency, candidate experience, and timely hiring decisions.
Maintain HR policies, templates, employee records, onboarding processes, compliance calendars, and reporting.
Coordinate HR-related occupational health-and-safety compliance, including training and certification tracking, documentation, incident reporting and follow-up, safety-meeting/JHSC or representative processes where applicable, corrective-action tracking, and compliance calendars.
Identify recurring HR, recruitment, retention, documentation, and manager-accountability issues and implement practical improvements.
Partner with executive leadership and managers to strengthen a positive, accountable, respectful, and consistent workplace culture across all locations.
Improve employee engagement, communication, onboarding, recognition, retention, and manager effectiveness through practical people processes.
Develop and test proactive recruitment methods beyond job postings, including employee referrals, candidate pipelines, direct sourcing, school/trade-program relationships, industry networks, social recruiting, past-applicant engagement, and selective agency partnerships.
5+ years of progressive, broad-based HR experience, including employee relations, manager coaching, employment documentation, recruitment, onboarding, and HR compliance.
Demonstrated full-cycle recruitment experience, from sourcing and screening through offer and onboarding.
Experience working independently in a stand-alone HR role, small HR team, or highly autonomous HR environment is strongly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment standards, human-rights obligations, accommodation principles, and core HR compliance practices.
Experience coordinating occupational health-and-safety processes, training records, safety documentation, or compliance activity is an asset.
Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, written communication, and follow-through.
A visible, approachable, practical style and comfort working directly with employees, candidates, managers, and executives.
Experience in automotive retail, retail, hospitality, multi-site operations, service, manufacturing, or another fast-paced frontline environment is an asset.
CHRP, CHRL, CPHR, or related HR education is an asset.
Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
Competitive salary of $80,000–$110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
