Duck Bay Lodge is looking for a reliable, hardworking individual to join our team for the 2026 upcoming season (May-Mid October). This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes in pride in keeping the property in top shape, and can handle a variety of onhands tasks. Our lodge is located on Hay Island in the Sabaskong Bay, in Lake of the Woods, offering a unique and rewarding work experience in a beautiful setting. We are looking for a GroundsKeeper/Dock Hand/Maintenance person.
Responsibilities include:
- Lawn care, trimming and general grounds maintenance
- Basic repairs around the lodge, cabins, docks, boats and generator
- Assisting with dock work
- coordinate daily dock operations: arrivals/departures of boats, loading/unloading guests luggage and lodge supplies and guest transfers
- Maintain docks (hardware checks, minor repairs, cleaning)
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment
- Operate lodge boats as needed for guests or staff transport
- Monitor fuel, supplies, and general housekeeping of docking area
- Assist with boat repairs and other maintenance around
- Maintaining cleaniness and organization of outdoor areas
- Supporting lodge operations with occassional additional tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or similiar would be an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Physically able to perform manual labour
- Work on a remote island
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
