Job Description:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchaser & Scheduler is responsible for coordinating purchasing activities, managing production work orders, and supporting production scheduling to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role works closely with production, inventory, finance, and suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed, work orders are accurately maintained, and production schedules are executed effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage production work orders to support manufacturing schedules.
- Coordinate production schedules and priorities with manufacturing teams to ensure on-time completion.
- Monitor material requirements and inventory levels to ensure components and supplies are available for production.
- Monitor work order progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changes in demand, material availability, or production constraints.
- Purchase raw materials, components, packaging, and operational supplies as required.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding lead times, order status, and delivery commitments, while ensuring this information is accurately maintained in our ERP system.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within our ERP system.
- Review demand forecasts and production requirements to support purchasing decisions.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and turnover.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
- Update and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, and production-related data.
- Coordinate urgent material purchases and production changes as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, inventory management, and production processes.
- Coordinate with overseas vendors, with occasional after-hours communication as needed.
- Coordinate and maintain consistent communication with vendors from order placement through to final delivery, ensuring timelines and expectations are met.
Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience using ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is considered a strong asset.
