Job Description
Position Overview
Brookfield is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate, Investments to join the Reinsurance M&A team. The Associate/Senior Associate will assist senior members of the team to identify, originate and execute insurance investments with a primary focus on opportunistic corporate-level and direct reinsurance deals. They will be expected to take a central role in the financial modelling and analysis supporting the M&A team’s investment process and will work closely with junior and senior team members, senior members of Brookfield’s management team, and Brookfield affiliates and investors.
Key Accountabilities

Build detailed financial models and perform complex financial analysis and valuations

Participate in due diligence of potential investments, including identifying key investment merits and risks, meeting with management, reviewing transaction documentation, and working in conjunction with third-party consultants as required

Monitor and assist in the management of existing portfolio companies

Assist in the preparation and presentation of investment committee memos, presentations, and other analyses to support investments

Conduct market research to support the development of investment strategies and to identify transaction opportunities
Requirements

A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture

2+ years of experience in Principal Investing, Investment Banking, Restructuring, or other relevant areas

Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing “client ready” investment materials

Experience covering financial services, particularly asset management or insurance (ideally with prior focus on life, retirement and / or annuities) is an asset

High level of proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel and outstanding financial modeling skills

Strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
