To be eligible for this position, you must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with as outlined:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
What you'll get to do:
Work in collaboration with CCS Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) Team to plan, develop and deliver child-centred and appropriate activities for younger and school-age newcomer children.- Conduct research and needs analysis of the Care for Newcomer Children (CNC)) target vulnerable newcomer age-group of children (younger and school-age).
- Identify and compile related community and digital resources to support focused emergent curriculum to facilitate learning, such as cultural and traditional forms of teaching kids through reading materials and resources.
- Help develop and implement children’s activities based on emergent curriculum to facilitate the development of their gross and fine motor skills as well as language development; assist with all activities (play, exercise, meals and rest periods), under the supervision of the Lead Childcare Worker to ensure the safety of the children; assist children to develop acceptable behaviour for social integration and adaptation in the community and school.
- Continue support for this specific younger and school-age group of newcomer families in the communities
- Support with admin and other duties/tasks as necessary

What you need to know/have:
- Ability to work with diverse teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of language barriers and challenges newcomer families and their children are faced with in vulnerable communities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills for efficient program design.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate work ethics in alignment with CCS core values.
- Contribute to the fast‐paced teaching and learning environment in support of children development of acceptable behaviour for social integration and adaptation in community and school.
Location: 4557 Hurontario St., Mississauga, ON
Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Compensation: $17.60 per hour
