The Opportunity
Visa Rentals and Leasing operates a fully self-sufficient mechanic shop to maintain the rental fleet. This position is for a journeyman mechanic and will lead our shop personnel in the maintenance of the Visa rental fleet. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our product for our customers.
The work location will be based in the VISA Rentals and Leasing Hilltop shop in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm as required, with a guarantee of 40hrs per week. A competitive benefits package is available upon completion of the probationary period.
Position Attributes & Responsibilities
This role is responsible for fleet vehicle maintenance and repair, diagnostics, and shop support. The mechanical integrity and reliability of our fleet is vital to our customer experience and the success of our business. This is a shop position whereby the individual in this role must possess the following attributes:
- Journeyman Mechanic Red Seal certificate
- Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines (North American manufacturer preferred)
- Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and modern vehicle technology
- Dependable and punctual
- Proficiency in English
- Previous experience in a shop environment (preferred)
- Valid provincial driver license (required)
Position Summary
As the lead mechanic, you will have direct accountability for the mechanical integrity of the fleet. This position will be required to lead other mechanics and technicians to maintain the vehicle fleet. Generally, the lead mechanic is responsible for:
- Diagnosing vehicle repairs and triaging units for warranty work
- Organizing scheduled maintenance (oil changes, brake jobs, etc.) as required
- Major vehicle repairs
- Scheduling tire changes and deck swaps with apprentice mechanics
- Operating vehicles for transfers when required
- Other operational tasks as required
