We are seeking a Security Analyst to support the operation, administration, and implementation of IT security solutions.

Located in our corporate head office in downtown Edmonton, this new position will join our Security Operations team as they take on new mandates across CWB Financial Group. As a member of this tight knit and collaborative group, you will play a key role in maintaining the security of critical information assets and seeing to the ongoing maturity of the CWB Group Information Security Management System (ISMS). Key focuses will be the implementation and maintenance of relevant technologies and the adherence to information security policies and procedures, while assisting with technical operations, incident escalation, and policy alignment.

How you’ll spend your time:
Improve, perform, and support the patch and vulnerability management process for the CWB Group computing environment.
Providing reporting on relevant information security metrics as requested by the Sr. Manager, Security Operations.
Performing intrusion detection analysis and vulnerability assessments to provide proactive and timely response to security incidents.
Provide insight into potential vulnerabilities and assist in the prioritization, execution, and verification of remediation efforts.
Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and procedures for information security and access controls based on industry best practice and at the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer.
Ongoing research to stay informed of industry cyber security threats, trends, and developments.
Perform the support, monitoring, maintenance, and sustainment of the security infrastructure and technologies that underpin the service level objectives identified in the service catalogue.
Develop and maintain up-to-date operational, installation, configuration, and upgrade documentation for security infrastructure technologies within given authority.
Monitor and update security infrastructure and technologies with respect to up-to-date malware prevention, signatures, heuristic detection, content analysis, and incident identification.
Effectively respond to incident tickets and service requests from internal users and support teams.
Follow established procedures for problem, incident, request, change configuration, and release management.
Participate in business continuity planning and disaster recovery planning.
Analyze business needs and requirements with respect to information security and recommend technical implementations and solutions.
Monitors CWB Group infrastructure to ensure necessary security updates, patches, and preventative measures are in place and in alignment to CWB Group policy.
Conducts security reviews and audits against established configuration policies and procedures.

This opportunity may be for you if:
You are a college diploma or university degree holder in the field of Computing Science with over one year of related information security or information technology experience.
You have familiarity with or awareness of information security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, COBIT, NIST Cyber Security Framework, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).
You have knowledge of information security technologies including Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) systems, network and application firewalls, intrusion prevention, web proxies, encryption, vulnerability management, public key infrastructure (PKI), malware prevention.
You have experience with enterprise Microsoft Server technology infrastructure.
You are familiar with network environments and networking concepts and/or services including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory.
You have proven ability to conduct research into information security issues and technologies.
Experience using SQL, Linux, UNIX, or shell scripting (e.g. PowerShell)? We consider that an asset. You have experience with the financial services industry? That’s a bonus.
You have exceptional written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal skills.
You have the ability to use your critical judgement to make decisions and solve problems involving various levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk.
You have analytical skills and an attention to detail to be proud of.
