Who we need:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, BBA On Campus, the Specialization Coordinator for Accounting is a key leadership role within the BBA Program, responsible for overseeing the curriculum and student experience for the accounting specialization. This is a full-time faculty member role, and the incumbent will ensure the program remains aligned with industry standards and best practices. The Specialization Coordinator will represent the accounting specialization with prospective students, current students and alumni, as well as with industry stakeholders, including CPA BC, the Accounting Specialization Advisory Panel, other Post-Secondary Institutions (PSIs), employers and community groups. The successful candidate will maintain a partial teaching load due to administrative responsibility.
The role is a hybrid position with regular on site attendance at the New Westminster Campus located at 88 6th Street. Interested candidates should submit a CV, cover letter, evidence of teaching effectiveness, a one-page outline of their teaching philosophy and three professional references.
What you will do:
Specialization Leadership:

Act as a Course Lead for the Accounting Specialization.

Provide mentorship and support to other course leads in the specialization stream.

Conduct quarterly meetings with accounting course leads to discuss curriculum development and course improvements.

Lead the analysis of student feedback data as it pertains to the specialization and outline an appropriate action plan.
-
Sit on hiring committees as required, for the accounting specialization.

Partner with Student Experience to support the successful career placement of accounting graduates and host special events to profile student talent.
- Attend open house and key industry events to promote the accounting specialization with industry stakeholders, academic and professional associations, accrediting bodies, as well as employers and community groups.

Review transfer credit equivalency for the accounting specialization.

Partner with the Student Recruitment and Marketing and Communications teams to ensure the accounting specialization is well understood and promoted.
Industry and Academic Liaison:

Act as the primary liaison between the Accounting Specialization Advisory Panel and the Faculty.

Attend and actively participate in CPA West PSI meetings as required.

Network with other PSIs to ensure best practices are appropriately implemented within the accounting courses.

Assist in the formation and ongoing operation of the Specialization Advisory Panel.

Support YU’s alumni strategy as the accounting faculty liaison.
Curriculum Oversight:

Ensure that all accounting courses are mapped to the CPA competency framework, maintaining alignment with the transfer credit agreement.

Secure and maintain an annual letter of approval from CPA for the accounting program and the details of the transfer credit approval.

Support the creation and maintenance of associated curriculum management documentation related to the specialization stream.

Assist with the review and update of curriculum materials related to the accounting specialization.

Ensure adherence to all academic policies and appeals procedures.
What you bring:
- 5+ years teaching accounting at the post-secondary level.

Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and industry professionals.

Strong understanding of the CPA competency framework and transfer credit agreements.

Excellent networking abilities and experience with developing and maintaining academic-industry partnerships.

Must be a member of CPA Canada in good standing.

Experience working within public practice or industry is preferred.

Applied research with academic and professional publications.
