Job Summary
Oak & Rose Counselling is seeking compassionate, skilled, and motivated Independent Contractor Counsellors to join our growing private practice. We are looking for a clinician who values authentic connection, evidence-based care, and creating a safe, affirming space for clients to heal and grow.
This opportunity is ideal for a Counsellor, Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist, or other regulated mental health professional who is interested in building or expanding a private practice while benefiting from the support of an established and collaborative environment.
Candidates with experience working in rural, remote, and northern communities are strongly encouraged to apply. We value clinicians who have developed broad clinical skills, adaptability, and an understanding of the unique strengths and challenges faced by individuals, families, and communities in Northwestern Ontario and other underserved regions.
Contractors have the flexibility to create their own schedules, work virtually and/or in person, and develop a caseload aligned with their clinical interests and areas of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual, couple, family, or group counselling services to clients.
- Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Develop and maintain strong therapeutic relationships while providing ethical, client-centered care.
- Utilize evidence-based approaches that may include ACT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, EFT, CPT, or other relevant modalities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using the Jane practice management platform.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, schools, community agencies, and referral sources when appropriate.
- Participate in consultation, peer support, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the growth and visibility of Oak & Rose Counselling through community engagement and professional networking.
- Adhere to the standards of practice and code of ethics of your respective regulatory college.

Qualifications
- Registration in good standing with a recognized professional regulatory body in Ontario.
- Professional liability insurance.
- Strong clinical assessment, intervention, and documentation skills.
- Commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and weight-inclusive practice.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative professional environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in private practice is an asset but not required.
