Client & Volunteer Care Coordinator
Barrie Food Bank – Barrie, Ontario
Full-Time | 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday
Barrie Food Bank’s mission is to provide food relief at no cost to individuals and families in our community who are in need and to support them on their journey to well-being.
We are seeking a Client & Volunteer Care Coordinator who will help create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for both clients and volunteers. This role supports daily client services, volunteer engagement, and administrative coordination across several of Barrie Food Bank’s programs.

Key Responsibilities
Client Services
- Register new clients and update client information using Link2Feed database in accordance with Barrie Food Bank intake policies.
- Support client service delivery through the Marketplace food program and Corner Store emergency food support services.
- Maintain accurate records of client visits and service usage, while adhering to confidentiality policies.
- Provide respectful, judgment-free support to individuals and families navigating food insecurity.
- Maintain awareness of community resources and referral pathways to support clients beyond food assistance.
Program Support
- Assist with administration and outreach related to School Fuel, Barrie Food Bank’s student nutrition program, including communication with local schools, coordination of bi-weekly deliveries and managing our e-commerce portal (Shopify).
- Support additional food programs including Little Panty Program, After the Bell summer program, hamper deliveries, and agency pickups.
Volunteer Coordination
- Serve as the first point of contact for volunteer applications.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
- Coordinate Police Record Check documentation for volunteers.
- Maintain volunteer records in the Volunteer Management System (VMS).
- Support volunteer training and scheduling coordination.
- Support and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Manager, Client Care and the Manager, Volunteer & Community Programs
- Assist the broader management team with program and operational tasks as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Education or a related field. Non-profit experience preferred.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations or in social services is an asset.
- Ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism (NVCI or similar training is an asset).
- Endeavour to inspire the trust of others; be a positive advocate for BFB programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Friendly and compassionate.
- Suitable knowledge of BFB operations and services.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect client and volunteer privacy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google suite of products, Canva. Shopify etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to Barrie Food Bank’s mission.
Position Details
Employment Type: Full-time Contract (Maternity Leave)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary Range: Aligns with Living Wage for Simcoe County
Reporting To: Manager, Client Care and Manager, Volunteer & Community Programs
