Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate
About Ziyutec
Ziyutec is a Canadian engineering consulting firm delivering architectural and electrical engineering services for government, institutional, commercial, and industrial projects across Canada.
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist who can produce clear, accurate, and well-organized construction drawing packages. This role is suitable for someone who is strong in AutoCAD, understands building construction, and takes pride in efficient, high-quality technical production.
This is a hands-on production role. The successful candidate will support architectural work directly and will also assist with multidisciplinary and electrical engineering drawing packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare architectural drawings for renovations, tenant improvements, institutional facilities, and government projects.
- Develop floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and construction documentation.
- Convert site information, sketches, markups, photographs, and design instructions into coordinated drawing packages.
- Support electrical and multidisciplinary engineering projects by preparing backgrounds, layouts, details, and drawing documentation.
- Review existing architectural drawings and incorporate field conditions into design documents.
- Coordinate architectural information with electrical, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines.
- Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, layers, xrefs, file structures, and project templates.
- Perform drawing checks and help improve the quality and consistency of issued documents.
- Participate in site surveys and project coordination meetings when required.
- Help develop more efficient CAD standards, production workflows, templates, and AI-assisted drawing processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Building Technology, or a closely related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience in architectural or engineering consulting, preferably in Canada.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce construction drawings efficiently.
- Good understanding of building construction, architectural detailing, and construction documentation.
- Experience preparing complete drawing packages for permit, tender, or construction.
- Ability to interpret markups, site photographs, existing drawings, and technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and drawing quality.
- Ability to work independently and manage several assignments with limited supervision.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Assets
- Electrical drafting or electrical engineering drawing experience.
- Familiarity with lighting, power, fire alarm, life-safety, or building electrical systems.
- Experience with government, institutional, commercial renovation, or tenant improvement projects.
- Revit or BIM experience.
- Experience conducting building surveys and documenting existing conditions.
- Experience developing CAD standards, templates, automation tools, AutoLISP, or AI-assisted production workflows.
- Eligibility to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for someone who only knows how to operate CAD software. We need a capable production professional who understands buildings, can organize technical information, identifies inconsistencies, and can turn incomplete project information into clear and coordinated construction documents.
The ideal candidate is practical, efficient, detail-oriented, and interested in working across both architectural and engineering disciplines.
