About the Client:
We are seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a gentleman in his final stages of terminal cancer who will be receiving palliative care at home in Brockville. He is transitioning from hospital to home to spend his remaining time comfortably with family. He uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility and requires assistance with personal care, toileting, and transfers. His wife is independent but needs support with moving him around the home. This is a temporary end-of-life care situation expected to last approximately one to two weeks. The family is focused on ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality time during this important transition.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with mobility support including transfers and repositioning
- Provide personal care assistance including toileting and hygiene
- Help with dressing and bathing as needed
- Support with getting in and out of bed safely
- Ensure comfort measures throughout shifts
- Communicate clearly with family members about care needs
- Work collaboratively with the client's wife who will be present in the home
What We're Looking For:
We need a caregiver with end-of-life care experience who can provide compassionate, skilled support during this sensitive time. The ideal caregiver is calm, patient, and brings positive energy while respecting the dignity of the situation. You should be comfortable with personal care tasks, have experience with mobility assistance using walkers or wheelchairs, and possess strong transfer skills. Reliability and clear communication with the family are essential. You must be able to take initiative when needed while making the client feel comfortable and safe. English-speaking required. This role requires someone with the right combination of technical skills and emotional intelligence to support both the client and his family during this difficult journey.
Schedule:
Daily care needed starting Monday with morning shifts from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM, and evening shifts from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family is flexible with exact timing and start date to accommodate caregiver availability. This is temporary care expected to last one to two weeks maximum.
