Our Montréal location in Quebec, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of US Payroll Specialist, Tax. This job is permanent, full-time.
You will be responsible to maintain and process data as it relates to payroll tax withholdings and to insure that payroll tax filings are accurate and completed in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for payroll entry of ACH, W4 changes, and other deductions, and for all transfer of employees between the US databases.
Reconcile periodic, quarter and annual tax data within the payroll system and with the 3rd party Ceridian. This includes quarterly tax filings and W-2’s.
Work with the HRIS Manager to maintain any tax jurisdictions, tax masters, and employee tax groups within the payroll system.
Work with State and Federal Agencies to setup any ID’s or jurisdictions that may be acquired.
Research any out-of-balance conditions, including processing of payments and refunds.
Maintain worker’s compensation data.
Maintain state unemployment rates.
Do quarterly and yearly rolls with the payroll system.
Research general ledger issues related to tax, which includes journal entries.
Backup for new hire entry, status changes, and entry of terminations into the payroll system.
Unemployment & Social Security.
File new hire and termination reporting with state agencies semi-monthly.
Document workflow and work procedures, run ad-hoc reports.
Maintain documentation for Sox and work with auditors.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
CPP certification preferred (or in progress).
Five years of experience in payroll tax.
SAP-HCM/BSI experience preferred.
Must have multi-state tax experience.
Experience using Ceridian tax.
Advanced Excel skills.
Proficient using a report writing tool.
General Ledger experience a plus.
