R.O.O.T.S. Afterschool Program Caregiver (Part-Time Position)
Hebron Baptist Church is seeking caring, energetic, and faith-minded individuals to join our R.O.O.T.S. Afterschool Program team as Caregivers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values Christian ministry, and wants to make a positive impact in the lives of children and families.
R.O.O.T.S. is a Christ-centered afterschool program serving children in Pre-Primary through Grade 5 from the Hebron and greater Yarmouth area. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually while experiencing the love of Christ through meaningful relationships and engaging activities.
About the Role
As a Caregiver, you will work alongside the Program Director to support children during afterschool hours, assist with activities, build positive relationships, and help create a fun and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and included.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of the R.O.O.T.S. Afterschool Program.
- Build positive, caring relationships with children and families.
- Support children during play, activities, snack time, transitions, and outdoor experiences.
- Encourage positive behaviour and model kindness, respect, and Christian character.
- Participate in games, crafts, physical activities, and other program experiences.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Support faith-based programming, including prayer, Bible stories, and discussions of Christian values.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Director and other team members.
- Help ensure all children feel welcomed, included, and supported.
- Caregivers report directly to the Program Director and work under their leadership and supervision in the day-to-day operation of the program. Caregivers are expected to support the vision, policies, and ministry goals established by the Program Director and church leadership.
Qualifications
We recognize that valuable experience comes in many forms. Formal childcare training is not required for this position.

Requirements
- Current Child abuse registry check, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required before employment).
- First Aid and CPR Certification is considered an asset
- Previous experience working with children through church, camps, sports, volunteering, babysitting, or community programs is considered an asset.

Job Type: Part-Time
Wages: $20.00/hr
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00pm until 5:30 PM (following the Tri-County School Calendar) Note: PD days 8:00pm-5:30pm
