Position Summary
We’re looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist to take the lead in managing the Calgary Stampede’s digital ecosystem, which includes multiple websites and social media channels, and email marketing.
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist is a member of the Consumer Marketing team and is an individual looking to grow their leadership skills while honing their craft in a fast-paced, integrated marketing environment.
This individual is tasked with bringing the Calgary Stampede’s brand strategy to life through the strategic and creative development and distribution of content throughout its digital platforms. This entails tactical planning, channel management, year-round (always-on) and agile content creation, and ongoing reporting to generate insights and inform marketing decisions.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement tactical content plans for social media channels, websites and email marketing in alignment with overall brand strategy and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Develop and maintain a year-round (always-on) content calendar to capture all digital marketing activities to ensure they’re all working cohesively together.
- Facilitate weekly content planning exercise with Consumer Marketing and Communications teams to develop content ideas that support both year-round brand and Stampede time programs and initiatives.
- Create both always-on content and agile content adhering to best practices and/or develop creative brief for content development; execute content across the Stampede's digital channels.
- Community management of official Calgary Stampede social media channels including guest relations (aka customer support) and ongoing relationship management on Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Includes developing and maintaining a community management matrix and active community management.
- Create and optimize Calgary Stampede web content for SEO best practices.
- Working with our digital agency partner, manage and maintain the Stampede’s websites; includes content updates, ongoing UX updates, and internal business unit website support.
- Manage and execute email marketing program; includes content development and database management to ensure CASL compliance.
- Analyze and report on digital activity on a weekly and/or monthly basis, including post performance, social listening, website analytics and campaign results to make recommendations based on insights gathered.
- Support and provide digital marketing recommendations to internal business units and volunteer committees.
- Provide support to Manager, Marketing including budget management, comprehensive activity summaries and special projects, as required.
Qualifications
- Five to seven years of related experience in marketing (including social media management), advertising or communications.
- Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Strong agile and always-on content creation skills, with demonstrable proficiency in content creation tools and ability to tailor content creatively to different audiences and channels.
- Experience in SEO best practices as well as Google Ads.
- Advanced knowledge of Social Media tools and CMS platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Monday, Contentful, and Meltwater Engage. Familiarity with emerging platforms.
- Experience in website management and enterprise content management systems.
- Experience in email marketing, including content creation, best practices, CASL, list management, and email marketing platforms.
- Metrics and results oriented. Experience in reporting, presenting and leveraging analytics to develop useful insights
- Exceptional communication, copy writing, presentation, project management and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter with experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; skills in communicating / managing stakeholders is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
