Rife is seeking candidates for a 12 month contract Data Developer position. This position is based in Calgary and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This position will be responsible for delivering business intelligence solutions that build internal data capability and generate direct value for the business.
Rife is a private land and investment holding company focused on mineral title, royalties, and resource-related opportunities across the energy and mining sectors. Wholly owned by the CN Pension Trust Fund and independently managed, Rife leases and manages mineral title, structures royalty agreements, and invests in resource-related opportunities across North America.
Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to data virtualization initiatives within existing systems, including data modelling, data integration, and the use of tools such as Denodo to improve access to trusted data.

Maintain solutions using SQL, Python, and visualization tools such as Power BI to enable scalable reporting and analytics.

Support the development of business intelligence reporting and analytics solutions that enhance decision-making across the organization.

Contribute to AI and advanced analytics initiatives by developing and implementing practical applications of emerging technologies within current business systems and workflows.

Work directly with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.

Qualifications

Recent graduate or early-career professional with up to 5 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analytics, software development, or a related field.

Proficiency with SQL and Python.

Experience with Power BI or an equivalent data visualization platforms.

Exposure to Denodo, data modelling, data virtualization, or AI concepts such as local LLMs, MCP, and RAG is an asset.

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline is considered an asset.

Experience in oil and gas or a related industry is considered an asset.
