BASIC FUNCTION: To provide general accounting and clerical support to the Accounting Department
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
· Process vendor invoices for payment ensuring that proper authorization is obtained
· Match inventory invoices to receiving entries & and purchase orders. Check purchase orders for prices and quantity
· Generate computer and manual cheques and match with correct invoices
· Accrue all unmatched receiving entries and unbilled expenses
· Respond to all vendors’ inquiries
· Reconcile vendor statements & related problem solving
· Process debit / credit memos as required
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
· Generate weekly receivable reports for Sales Managers to follow up with their customers for payment
· Consistent follow up with large chain stores for overdue payments through phone and email
· Daily deposits of cheques and ensure timely posting of payments
· Respond to and investigate customers queries, providing accurate information related to billing, payment terms, etc.
· Analyze and reconcile customer accounts to determine validity of balance owing and/or need for adjustment. Complete on-line adjustments where necessary
· Provide timely follow-up on commitments to customers regarding billing/account reconciliation while keeping Sales in the loop on all relevant issues
· Investigate customer claims and refunds with appropriate accounting entries where required
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:
· GL account reconciliations
· Bank reconciliations – Canadian and US Funds
· Assist with month end and year-end account reconciliations and closing procedures
· Other accounting duties as required
QUALIFICATION:
· Certificate in accounting or related experience
· Proficiency with MS Office software, ability to use Excel spreadsheets
· Must have strong analytical and problem solving ability
· Must have excellent interpersonal and communicating skills
· Accuracy, consistency and attention to details are essential
Experience:
- Accounting: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
