Magna IV Engineering is seeking a motivated and technically minded Estimator/Proposal Specialist to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a full-time, in-office position that offers a unique opportunity for someone with an electrical background to build a career in proposal development and business support.
The successful candidate will begin by spending approximately six months working alongside our field and engineering teams to gain firsthand knowledge of Magna IV's services, equipment, and customers. This hands-on experience will provide the technical foundation needed to develop accurate, high-quality proposals and quotations. Following this onboarding period, the Proposal Specialist will work closely with engineering, operations, project management, and business development teams to prepare client proposals, quotations, and other technical documentation that support business growth.
No prior estimating or proposal experience is required—we will provide the training needed to succeed in this role.
Field Training & Technical Development

Complete approximately six months of hands-on field training to develop a strong understanding of Magna IV's services, equipment, and operations.
- Learn company processes, technical capabilities, and customer applications.
- Build relationships with field personnel, engineers, and project teams.
Proposal Development

Assist in preparing proposals, quotations, RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and other customer submissions.
- Review client requests and identify submission requirements and deadlines.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and business development teams to gather technical and commercial information.
- Ensure proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Develop and maintain proposal templates and supporting documentation.
Client & Business Support

Support client-facing proposal activities and business development initiatives.
- Assist with presentations, capability statements, and marketing materials.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate Magna IV's technical capabilities and value proposition.
Quality & Documentation

Review proposal documents for accuracy and compliance with customer requirements.
- Maintain organized proposal records and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement of proposal processes and content libraries.
- Previous electrical experience working in power systems, automation, industrial, or technical services environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Willingness to complete approximately six months of field training before transitioning into proposal development.
- Eagerness to learn proposal development, estimating, and business support processes.
Preferred Qualifications

Internship, co-op, or early career experience within electrical power systems, industrial services, utilities, or automation.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM software is an asset.
- Experience with technical writing or document preparation is an asset.
- Experience with Power BI or data reporting tools is an asset.
