The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent education and a Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License with Air Brake Certification. A minimum of 3 years’ experience with heavy equipment and knowledge of different types of construction (i.e., concrete, asphalt, catch basin) is required. Completion of the APWA - Winter Maintenance Program is considered an asset. This position requires working knowledge of roadway structure construction and maintenance (i.e., traffic lights, road signs, sidewalks, storm sewer installation, concrete inspection, etc.). Experience operating a grader and a dump truck with snowplow/sander equipment is considered an asset. This role requires the ability to work with little or no direct supervision, receiving orders for work verbally or in writing. The position requires shift work, and overtime when necessary. Participation in an on-call schedule is required. This is a physically demanding position; incumbents will be required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. A current Driver’s Abstract will be required at the time of interview.
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (varying shifts which may include days, evenings, & weekends)
Duration: October 5, 2026 – April 23, 2027
