Casual Warehouse Worker – LCBO Durham Warehouse, Whitby, Ontario
The LCBO Durham Warehouse in Whitby is the LCBO’s largest distribution centre that supplies more than 800 retail stores in Ontario. We ensure that stores are stocked with a wide variety of wines, beers, ciders and spirits that are enjoyed by the Ontario public. The Durham Retail Service Centre is a state-of-the-art, high volume, fast-paced, highly automated distribution facility. We value customer service, quality of work and efficiency.
Job Description - Employees can expect to:
Unload cases of product from containers/trailers manually.
Pick, assemble, and place cases on pallets and conveyors for shipment.
Check assembled orders and counts of incoming or outgoing cases of product.
Operate material handling equipment.
Review and complete inventory documents as required.
General housekeeping of your work area and cleaning up product spills on occasion.
Employee(s) must perform duties in a conscientious manner and adhere to LCBO policies and practices, Occupational Health and Safety, WSIB and WHMIS guidelines.
Shifts and pay:
The Durham Retail Service Centre operates Monday to Saturday.
The regular work week is up to 5 shifts between Monday and Saturday, however there is no guarantee of hours. Our busy season is from May to January.
You need to be available to work any shift including: Midnight shift (12am to 8:00am) Afternoon (4pm to 12:00pm) Morning (8am to 4:00pm).
Overtime during our busy season is common and we need you to be available for overtime.
The hourly wage is $16.10 with the opportunity for annual increases.
Previous general warehouse experience is an asset.
Ability to speak and read English as well as proficiency working with numbers, normally acquired through the completion of a secondary school education.
These positions are very physical in nature and require heavy lifting of stock between 40lbs (18.5kg) and 60lbs (27 kg) for prolonged periods of time. Applicants must be capable of meeting these physical demands.
Knowledge of material handling procedures and safe working practices is an asset.
Successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to work shift work including: Afternoon shift, midnight shift and day shift. Monday to Saturday; along with occasional overtime, including weekend overtime.
Canadian Safety Association (CSA) approved safety footwear is required.
