Sparkes Builders has been in business for 36 years and has built all kinds of commercial, residential and agricultural buildings throughout the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Sparkes Builders is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant, with the potential of becoming full time, for our office located 15km south of Lloydminster. A valid driver's license is required. This role must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a highly-motivated individual with exceptional organization skills.

Work Conditions

  • Interact with owner, vendors, customers, colleagues, trades personnel, and visitors in a calm and friendly manner
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Light lifting may be required
  • Working hours are flexible to your schedule starting at a minimum of 10 hours per week. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday 8 - 5. The position will start as part-time flexible, with the likelihood of extending to full time permanent.


  • Maintaining office organization and filing
  • Posting all accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciling bank statements in Sage50
  • Answering emails
  • Issuing Purchase Orders
  • IT support for team and owner
  • Creating quotes and contracts for clients
  • Handling change order requests
  • Managing job files


  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 is required
  • Sage 50 Accounting system experience is required
  • Construction and Contracts experience considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting role


  • High School or GED required
  • Some post-secondary training in accounting or administration preferred
