Job Overview
The Chilliwack Curling Club is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Bookkeeper to manage the Club’s day-to-day financial operations. This position supports to the General Manager & Board of Directors by maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is experienced in non-profit or small-business bookkeeping, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and comfortable managing multiple funding sources and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Maintain accurate financial records using Sage
- Record and reconcile all revenues, expenses, bank deposits, and credit card transactions
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger entries
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and deposits
- Track rental, event, and bar revenues, including GST & PST remittances where applicable
- Reconcile POS with Sage
- Reconcile & manage cash floats
Reporting & Support
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the General Manager
- Assist in preparing the annual operating budget and year-end statements
- Support external accountant during year-end review or audit
- Provide cash flow summaries and variance analyses as requested by the General Manager
Payroll & Compliance
- Process semi-monthly payroll using Ceridian
- Record & remit WSBC premiums
- Maintain employee files and track vacation and statutory holiday pay
- Prepare T4s and other year-end tax slips as required using Ceridian
- Ensure compliance with CRA, BC Societies Act, and internal club financial policies
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized digital and paper filing systems for financial records
- Assist in tracking event rentals, sponsorships, and grant funding
- Support the General Manager in financial planning and operational administration
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ bookkeeping experience (non-profit or club environment preferred)
- Proficiency in Sage Desktop or Online (or equivalent accounting software)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and email communication tools
- Understanding of GST, payroll remittances, and non-profit financial reporting
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with limited supervision
