Field Service Technician / Technical Sales Support — Montreal, QC
Motiontek Industrial Inc is looking for a reliable Field Service Technician / Technical Sales Support person to support customers in the Montreal and surrounding Quebec area.
This role is mainly focused on onsite technical service, including installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment testing, and repairs for industrial packaging equipment and end-of-line systems. The ideal candidate is also comfortable identifying customer needs and communicating opportunities for parts, service, PM programs, packaging consumables, equipment upgrades, and new equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform onsite installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and testing of customer equipment.
- Respond quickly and professionally to service calls, PM visits, installations, and emergency support requests.
- Read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Interact with customers in a professional manner and ensure their concerns are properly addressed.
- Provide basic operator training and equipment guidance when required.
- Identify customer needs during service visits, including parts, PM service, consumables, equipment upgrades, and replacement equipment.
- Recommend practical technical solutions to improve equipment reliability, uptime, safety, and performance.
- Communicate customer needs, sales opportunities, equipment concerns, photos, and part details to management.
- Support quote preparation by providing accurate technical information from the field.
- Represent the company professionally and help build long-term customer relationships.
Requirements
- Experience with industrial equipment service, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
- Electrical, electronic, mechanical, and basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Packaging equipment experience is an asset.
- Experience with stretch wrappers, case sealers, case erectors, conveyors, strapping equipment, shrink equipment, palletizers, or end-of-line automation is a strong asset.
- Trade school diploma or college diploma preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable identifying sales opportunities without using a hard-sales approach.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to customer sites.
- French required. English is an asset and may be required for communication with some customers, vendors, OEM technical support teams, and technical documentation.
Compensation
- $28–$35/hour, based on experience and technical ability.
- Paid travel arrangement depending on assignment.
- Mileage reimbursement.
- Additional commission or performance bonus available for approved sales opportunities generated during service visits, including parts, preventive maintenance programs, consumables, equipment upgrades, and new equipment leads.
