Located within the Faculty of Professional Studies, the department of Adult Education is looking for an adult educator with research and teaching experience in the field of Teaching English as an Additional Language (TEAL) and Second Language Education (SLE) and in teaching TEAL, SLE, and/or Adult Education in a post-secondary environment. The Limited Term faculty appointment is for one year, with possible extension into a second year. It requires that the successful candidate teach seven classes with one equivalent course load for service. Our classes are all hybrid with approximately 70-75% of the classes online and the remaining 25-30% offered through a combination of face-to-face and virtual synchronous videoconferencing. The successful candidate must be able to come onsite at the Abbotsford (King Road) campus for these classes and for meetings.

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate or ABD status, with TESL Canada Standard 3 Certification (or equivalent). Evidence of successful teaching is required, both teaching in the field and in teacher preparation. At least some experience and ample confidence in teaching Applied Linguistics in the context of TEAL or SLE is preferred, with a history of service, preferably including service in a post- secondary context, and research in a relevant area. We are looking for an individual who is committed to collaborative decision-making and team-work. Teaching assignments will include TEAL/SLE courses, including Applied Linguistics and practicum supervision in the Fraser Valley region, and Adult Education courses that bridge into TEAL such as Adult Learning (ADED 320) and Research Method in Adult Education (ADED 390). Because of the practicum responsibilities, a car is required. Additional assets would include experience or expertise in Second Language Education involving a language other than English and/or in Mindfulness-Based Teaching and Learning, two developing areas in the Department. Vocational education and Indigenous education are also useful areas of expertise for this position.
