What are We Looking For?
Battle River Power Coop is seeking an experienced and people focused individual to lead our human resource function and support approximately 70 employees across operations, technical, administrative and leadership teams.
This is a hands-on role ideal for an HR professional who enjoys challenges, working closely with employees and managers, understanding the importance of safety and compliance in a utility environment and can balance day-to-day HR responsibilities with longer term organizational development. Integral to this position is providing guidance on employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, workplace policies and procedures as well as employment legislation.
What will you bring to the Role?
o Ability to both lead and work within a team environment; including leading by example in promoting and applying safe work practices
o Strong administrative accuracy with experience handling employment contracts, maintaining confidential file systems, and a foundational awareness of Alberta Employment Standards
o Capacity to lead organizational design and people culture management
o Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team or independently as an individual contributor
o Good organizational and time management skills, able to manage numerous projects and competing demands
o Recommend policy changes to support business needs based on provincial legislation.
o Approachable, professional, and trustworthy
o Assist with recruitment efforts, onboard employees, employee performance management, learning and development programs, compensation, etc.
o Coordinate benefit and pension related matters
o Develop, update and communicate HR policies and procedures
o Proficient in MS Office and HR Software
Required Qualifications:
o Strong background in Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years of experience
o Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a field related to human resource management or equivalent combination of education (CHRP, CHRA, CPHR or similar designation preferred) and experience to be successful in the role
o Experience working in a small to medium-size organization
o Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies and procedures
o Experience handling employee relations, investigations, performance management, recruitment and policies
o Strong interpersonal skills, communication, organization and attention to detail
o Familiarity with Electric Utility Industry & Cooperatives

o Business prefers that you live within the Camrose area or at least within 100km.
