Job Summary
The Purchaser for Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring parts, materials, and services necessary for the maintenance and repair of aircraft. This role ensures that all procurement activities align with industry regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.
Core Competencies:
1. Vendor Management:
o Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring they meet aviation industry standards.
o Evaluate new supplier qualifications to ensure compliance with aviation quality and regulatory standards.
o Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to aviation maintenance requirements.
2. Procurement Activities:
o Coordinate procurement activities, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, specifically for aviation parts and materials.
o Negotiate contracts and prices to ensure cost-effective purchasing of aviation components.
o Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy and compliance with aviation maintenance policies.
3. Inventory Management:
o Monitor inventory levels of aviation parts and order new supplies as needed to support aircraft maintenance operations.
o Implement inventory and investment recovery practices to optimize the availability of critical aviation components.
4. Compliance and Audits:
o Ensure adherence to aviation procurement principles and practices.
o Conduct onsite and desk audits of vendors to ensure compliance with contractual terms and aviation industry standards.
5. Team Leadership:
o Lead a team of purchasing agents and oversee their activities related to aviation procurement.
o Provide training on aviation-specific procurement processes and conduct periodic performance reviews.
6. Technical Support:
o Liaise between aircraft maintenance and engineering teams for technical issues related to procurement.
o Provide technical support for procurement-related matters, ensuring compatibility with aviation maintenance requirements.
7. Continuous Improvement:
o Monitor and implement sourcing strategies and processes to enhance the efficiency of aviation procurement.
o Focus on continuous improvement to enhance service levels and support aircraft maintenance operations.
8. Safety Management System Participation:
o Take part in the organization's aviation safety management system and annual audits.
o Conduct internal audits within the purchasing department to ensure proper processes are followed and costs are kept as low as possible, while maintaining aviation safety standards.
9. Additional Duties:
o Perform other duties as assigned by the company, including tasks related to aviation procurement and maintenance support.
