We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a background in municipal land development and infrastructure to join our group supporting the Grande Prairie team. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to lead a team and plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of civil projects.
- Manage a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, including design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation infrastructure
- Provide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications
- Carry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentation
- Build business relationships with current and potential clients
- Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations
- Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standards
- Create a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factors
- Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they arise
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering (other disciplines encouraged to apply if practicing Civil Engineering)
- Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Alberta
- 8+ years of relevant experience in municipal engineering and project management
- Experience in materials testing (soils, concrete) and/or structural design and analysis is an asset
- Experience in hydraulic analysis and design and/or process-mechanical design is also considered an asset
- Strong project management, technical and analytical skills
- Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals
- Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designers
- Good organization skills and strong attention to detail
