General Description:
As a PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) Process Engineer, this role ensures the efficiency and optimization of the PCBA manufacturing processes. This position involves implementing and improving manufacturing processes, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in PCBA processes, equipment, and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- A professional designation, such as P.Eng, would be regarded as an asset.
- Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in PCBA process engineering or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of PCBA processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for PCBA manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with NPI processes and DFM principles.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
Responsibilities:
Process Optimization:

Continuously evaluate and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

Identify areas for improvement in workflow, equipment, and procedures to enhance overall productivity.
Technical Troubleshooting:
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to PCBA processes, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address and mitigate any disruptions in the manufacturing process.
New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Work closely with the engineering team during the introduction of new PCBA products.
- Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
Process Documentation:
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of PCBA processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Train production staff on new or updated processes and procedures.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards for PCBA processes.
- Implement testing and inspection protocols to ensure the reliability and functionality of PCBA products.
Equipment Management:
- Monitor and maintain PCBA manufacturing equipment, coordinating maintenance for repairs and upgrades.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment or technology investments to improve efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to address challenges and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality materials and components.
