Job Summary
Glengarry Building and Design is looking for a reliable, entry-level construction labourer to assist with renovations and timber frame projects in the SD&G region. Duties include assisting with siding, drywall, deck work, material pickup, setup and teardown, and general site labour. Skills we're looking for are being punctual, trainable, and safety focused. A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are required. Belt and basic hand tools are preferred, but not required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with general carpentry, renovations, decks, siding, general carpentry, drywall, and other residential construction work
- Load, unload, carry, and organize lumber, tools, and building materials
- Measure, mark, and make basic cuts as directed
- Set up and take down scaffolding, ladders, work areas, and equipment
- Prepare job sites before work begins and clean up throughout the day
- Perform demolition and removal of construction debris when required
- Assist with installation of building materials and components
- Keep tools, equipment, and materials organized
- Follow instructions and established safety procedures
- Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Perform physically demanding work, lifting and carrying materials up to approximately 50 lb
- Take on additional construction tasks as skills and experience develop
Requirements
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic
- Willing to learn, take direction, and develop new skills
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials is advantageous
- Comfortable using hand and power tools properly and safely
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites throughout North Glengarry and SDG
- Comfortable working from ladders and at heights
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
- Able to maintain a clean and safe work area
