Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

Position Overview:
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel will play a critical role in providing timely and strategic advice on corporate and commercial matters. This role includes offering legal support for company policy development and maintenance and advising on issues relating to aviation and regulatory compliance. The Senior Legal Counsel will also be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting various agreements, and coordinating the use of external counsel in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Primary Job Functions:
The duties of the Senior Legal Counsel include:

Provide timely and strategic legal advice on corporate and commercial matters to various departments within the company

Review, negotiate, and draft various agreements, including contracts, leases, and other legal documents

Advise on emerging legal trends and issues relevant to the aviation industry and provide updates to internal stakeholders

Provide support in preparing materials for the Board of Directors and draft board resolutions
-
Respond to inquiries and issues promptly and professionally, offering guidance to internal stakeholders on managing and resolving legal matters

Coordinate with external counsel in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean to ensure that legal matters are handled efficiently and effectively
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

Law degree from an accredited institution

Active membership in good standing with the Bar Association in Canada

Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in aviation or a related industry

In-depth knowledge of aviation law and regulations

Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Board Portals

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to provide strategic legal advice and support to senior management and other stakeholders

High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information with discretion

A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management skills
