The Blossom Group (Apple Blossom Village, Blooming Acres and Cherry Blossom Farm), reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, seeks a highly skilled Human Resources Training and Development Specialist to support our therapeutic live-in programs. We support children, youth, and adults through a range of cognitive, social and emotional issues, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and those with coexisting mental health and behavioural issues pursuant to our license issued under Part IX of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the training: Schedule current and new employees for training sessions.
- Develop and implement training: In person and through our online training platform.
- Train employees in crisis intervention strategies.
- Act as our CARE (Cornell University curriculum) lead and trainer.
- Develop and deliver Blossom Group Academy Training: Facilitate our in-person and online training sessions that focus on direct care skill development and behaviour supports.
- Participate in recruitment, hiring and onboarding: as part of a comprehensive HR team.
- Records and training compliance: Ensure all employee files follow MCCSS, QAM and other regulatory compliance.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance process.
- Act as a Human Resources Liaison: Respond to general inquiries by employees and Managers and participate in HR internal investigations.
- Support health and wellness retention: As part of a supportive, caring leadership team.
- Disability management and return to work/accommodation: planning for all work-related and non-work-related injuries/illnesses, acting as a contact for the injury insurance program and for the employee.
- Provide support: with workplace inspections, accident investigation, risk assessments and other health and safety activities as required, including on-site visits.
- Coordinate employee incentive and giveaway programs.
- Provide onsite employee training and support related to client care: work from a Blossom Group client-based location 50% of the time.
- Administrative and other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelors level degree in a related field including but not limited to leadership, business administration, communications, social work, or education. A Human Resources Certificate and/or Masters level education is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in adult education training and talent development.
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources and employee development.
- Knowledge of legislative requirements including, the Employment Standards Act, Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights.
- Experience using an HRIS system, Microsoft 365, online training platforms (ie. Talent LMS), Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint and other presentation software.
- Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- Capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, employees and community partners.
- Works well independently and as a committed team player.
- Attends to details and meets deadlines.
Other Job Requirements
- Must have own reliable transportation; travel is required to work at locations.
- Successful Criminal Record Check with VSS.
This position has a base salary rate of $64,000-$72,000 annually, with an additional $3 wage enhancement per hour, paid by the government, as reflected in the wage posted.
