Landscape Foreman
The Opportunity
We’re looking for experienced foremen who take pride in building premium outdoor spaces. At WLS Landscaping, we specialize in high-end hardscape construction — interlock patios, retaining walls, natural stone features, outdoor kitchens, and complete landscape transformations. Our projects range from $50K to $300K+, and the work speaks for itself.
If you’re tired of cutting corners for companies that don’t invest in their people or their equipment, this is a different kind of opportunity. We believe the best foremen deserve the best tools, the best materials, and a company that actually backs them up.
Who We Are
WLS Landscaping is a premium landscape construction company based in Ottawa, expanding into the Gatineau market in 2026. We run four crews on a full season from April through November, building residential and commercial projects that set the standard in the region.
Our culture is built on four values:
- Inspirational — We motivate and empower each other to do our best work.
- Aligned — We move as one team toward a shared vision.
- Transparent — Clear goals, clear expectations, no hidden agendas.
- Accountable — We own our work, our actions, and our results.
We invest heavily in our people and our equipment. If you’re a top performer, you’ll be recognized and rewarded — not just with words, but with compensation, leadership opportunities, and a real career path.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Landscape Foreman, you’ll run high-quality residential and commercial projects from mobilization to completion, leading a crew of up to eight skilled professionals. The role blends hands-on construction, crew leadership, and project management.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan and execute daily work strategies, directing your crew with precision and efficiency.
- Lead by example on the tools while coaching and developing your team.
- Manage time, productivity, budgets, and material logs to keep projects on track.
- Ensure all work meets blueprints, specifications, and our quality standards.
- Operate heavy equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, and tracked loaders.
- Adapt on the fly — adjust for field conditions, client requests, and material availability.
- Communicate with the project manager and ownership to keep everyone aligned.
The Equipment You’ll Work With
We believe in working smarter, not harder. That’s why we invest in industry-leading equipment so our crews can focus on quality, not on fighting their tools.
- Skid steers, mini excavators, and tracked loaders — no digging everything by hand.
- Paver vacuums and power wheelbarrows — work faster with less strain.
- Precision cutting and grading tools — the equipment to match the standard of work we expect.
What We’re Looking For
We want experienced professionals who take serious pride in their craft and are ready to lead a crew at a high level.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience leading a landscape or hardscape construction crew.
- Ability to read and execute landscape construction plans from start to finish.
- Strong expertise in hardscaping, grading, drainage, and site preparation.
- Leadership and communication skills — you can motivate, direct, and develop a team.
- Valid Ontario or Quebec driver’s license with a clean record.
- Physically capable of meeting the demands of full-day outdoor construction.
- Full-season availability from April through November.
Assets
- Bilingual (French/English) — especially valuable as we expand into the Gatineau market.
- Experience training and developing crew members.
- Irrigation installation experience.
- DZ license or heavy equipment certifications.
What You Get
- Competitive weekly pay — paid every Friday.
- Performance bonuses tied to project delivery, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Career growth — leadership development and clear advancement opportunities.
- Premium projects — high-end properties, top-tier materials, clients who value craftsmanship.
- Professional equipment — the tools to do the job right, every time.
- A team culture built on accountability, respect, and results.
