Job Description:
We're looking for an experienced Lead Hand Carpenter to join our team. As a Lead Hand Carpenter, your main responsibility will be working alongside a team of carpenters to complete various construction projects successfully. You don't need a fancy degree, but at least 3 years of carpentry experience is required. It's important that you're good at reading blueprints and have expertise in building structures like foundations, walls, and footings.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the project manager/superintendent and the rest of the team to understand project requirements, timelines, and specifications.
- Read and understand blueprints accurately to make sure the designs are implemented correctly.
- Lead a team of carpenters by providing guidance, assigning tasks, and making sure the project stays on schedule.
- Work with the team to build and assemble formwork for foundations, walls, footings, and other structures.
- Measure, cut, shape, and join materials as needed for the project.
- Keep an eye on quality by regularly inspecting the work and fixing any issues or defects promptly.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following all safety guidelines and regulations.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in a leadership role. You don't need a fancy degree, but practical experience is important.
- Valid Occupational First Aid Certificate (required).
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Good knowledge and experience in building formwork for foundations, walls, footings, and similar structures.
- Strong carpentry skills, including cutting, shaping, joining, and installing different materials.
- Understanding of construction techniques, tools, and equipment used in the trade.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively, ensuring smooth workflow and timely completion of the project.
- Attention to detail is important, and you should take pride in your workmanship.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
