We are seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Resident Engineer / Inspector to join our Burnaby office and support the delivery of municipal, transportation, water, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will act as Jacobs' on-site representative, ensuring construction activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, design requirements, safety standards, schedules, and contractual obligations.
As a Resident Engineer / Inspector, you will oversee and monitor construction activities on behalf of the client and Jacobs project team. You will serve as the primary field contact between contractors, clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
When not on site, you will help support projects via submittal reviews, contract administration tasks, and/or proposal support.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the on-site representative for Jacobs and the client during construction.
- Monitor and inspect construction activities to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
- Review contractor work methods, schedules, and progress against project milestones.
- Coordinate and conduct site inspections and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, field diaries, inspection records, and photographic documentation.
- Review contractor submissions, including shop drawings, RFIs, work plans, and material approvals.
- Identify deficiencies, non-conformances, and construction issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Monitor quantities, progress payments, change orders, and claims as required.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
- Coordinate with design engineers and technical specialists to address field issues.
- Verify implementation of environmental, health, and safety requirements on-site.
- Ensure testing and commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with project requirements.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, substantial completion inspections, and turnover documentation.
- Support project pursuit activities, specification writing, when not on a project site.
