We currently have an opportunity for a:
Autism Spectrum Disorder –School Support Program (ASD-SSP) Consultant
Temporary, Full-Time – 35 hours*week (until November 2020)
- Please note that the successful incumbent may be required to work evenings and weekends.
The ASD-SSP Consultant will partner with parents and School Boards in supporting students with a diagnosis of an ASD transition from Ontario Autism Program (OAP) behavioural services into school. The successful incumbent will be assigned to work with the school boards in York and Durham regions.
Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):
Provide expert Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) clinical and consultative support to school transition teams and families for children transitioning from OAP behavioural services into school as part of the Connections for Students (CFS) initiative.
Contribute to the development of a Family Service Plan as well as support families in accessing community supports and services.
Support the delivery of OAP foundational services.
Consult in the development of effective evidence based practices for students with ASD in the educational environment.
Develop resource materials and provide training opportunities to educators supporting students with ASD.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification is considered an asset.
Minimum three years experience in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis and Autism Spectrum Disorder
Experience with school based transitions will be considered a strong asset.
Experience in the delivery of consultation based services.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problem solving skills, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment
Excellent computer (MS Office) and presentation skills
Travel is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
