As an automation specialist, you’ll be mostly programming PLC and SCADA systems. You’ll also be involved in design, troubleshooting, project management, and other aspects of the business. Depending on your personal aptitude, there are opportunities to work and learn about networking, server management, IT/OT convergence, AI and vision system implementations.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of automated industrial systems. From the estimation and design to commissioning
- Perform field work
- Troubleshoot, update and upgrade existing client equipment
- Produce, modify, and review electrical and instrumentation drawings
- Prepare technical/field reports, cost estimates and project schedules
- Manage small scale projects
- Coordinating efforts between internal and external resources
- Tracking project budgets and milestones
Required qualifications
- 3-6 years' experience working as:
- An automation or electrical engineer/technologist focused on industrial Automation or Control
- An industrial electrician or technologist working on an industrial site with responsibilities and duties surrounding design and programming
- Experience required in the following:
- Allen Bradley PLCs – RSlogix5000/Studio5000
- Ignition by Inductive Automation
- Extensive experience with IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages
- AutoCad
- Experience not required but is an asset:
- Other PLC manufacturers: Schneider, Siemens, AutomationDirect
- AutoCad Electrical
- Robotics experience: Yaskawa, Fanuc, ABB
- CodeSys Programming experience
- Java, Python, C# and other programming languages.
- Must possess the following qualities:
- A good communicator, both verbal and written
- Be safety oriented
- Being a self-starter and a fast learner
- Must speak English
- Speaking French is preferred but not required
Pay: $85,147.25-$119,226.15 per year
