Position: Drill and Blast Engineer (fly-in/fly-out)
Salary Range: $65 per hour + OT
About the Client and Role
We’re seeking an experienced Drill & Blast Mine Engineer to join our client — a rapidly growing mining company based in Ontario.This opportunity begins as a contract position on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation. The ideal candidate will bring solid open pit drill and blast experience along with a degree in Mine Engineering.

The Drill and Blast Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing Drill and Blast operations at this Open Pit Mine. As a key link between the technical and operational teams, you will use your technical expertise and influencing skills to ensure everyone works together towards a common goal of safely and efficiently manufacturing high quality iron ore.
Main Accountabilities:
- Ensure drill and blast designs are carried out in accordance with approved budgets and site standards
- Optimize blast fragmentation for loading unit performance, crushing throughput and product quality
- Provide technical guidance for all blasting activities on site
- Liaise with and provide direction to operations about drill and blast sequence, blasting timing and blasting requirements
- Forecasting and coordination of sealift orders for explosives and drilling consumables
- Monitor equipment performance, report and provide feedback to stakeholders

Main Qualifications:
- Degree in mining engineering with 3+ years’ experience in open pit mining or equivalent experience
- Experience in open pit drill and blast and mine production is essential
- Knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Suite and Minesight is essential
- Experience in data analysis and process optimization would be considered an asset
Ability to work independently in a remote site environment under all weather conditions
